The NPIA (National Policing Improvement Agency) has announced the appointment of Angela O’Connor as Executive Director HR (Policing).
The NPIA will be a new central resource to help Police forces improve the way they work. It will drive continuous improvement across policing to deliver better services to the public.
This role will provide vision and professional leadership in HR matters for police forces in England and Wales and will also be responsible for national police training and leadership programmes.
Angela is currently HR Director at the Crown Prosecution Service and was previously in senior HR roles in 3 London local authorities. Her HR teams have been the recipients of numerous awards for Equality and Diversity, Recruitment and Innovative HR Practices. She was named as Personnel Director of the Year 2005 at the Telegraph Business awards and HR Director of the Year 2005 at the Personnel Today awards. She is a trustee of the Employers forum on age and a fellow of the CIPD. She has recently been appointed as the president of PPMA (The Public Sector People Managers Association) and is the first civil servant president in the organisations 30 year history. She will take up her new role with the NPIA in November.
